There are four requirements which must be met by all coaches:

  2. Initial MeAHA background check
  3. Annual USAHockey coach registration, prior to the season starting.
  4. Recurring USAHockey certification, by Dec 31.
Please see details below:

1.  LETTER OF INTENT: (One time only) All coaches at all levels must fill out an application [Letter of Intent for Coaching] and submit your completed application to: MCYH Coaching Director via email.  (Refer to the "Board of Directors" tab on this website to find the email address of the current Coaching Director.)  Coaching candidates for house hockey teams should plan to submit their applications no later than the first full week in October of each year.

2.  COACHES' SCREENING/BACKGROUND CHECK:  (One time only.) Mandated by MeAHA, all coaches are required to participate in a screening/background check. Similar Screenings/background checks in other organizations will not be honored by MEAHA.  Go to [Screening Policy] for a description of how to complete the process. Download your receipt and email to Coaching Director.  This cost is reimbursed by MCYH.

4.  USA HOCKEY CERTIFICATION:
All coaches must have a CURRENT USAHockey Certification in order to go onto the ice and/or onto the bench.
Initial certification is the result of attending a coaching clinic appropriate for the age group to be coached (see table below).
A list of upcoming coaches clinics can be found at http://www.usahockey.com/viewallclinics.aspx

Certification must be renewed periodically.  Currency can be determined by the expiration date sticker you got at your clinic, which is placed on your CEP card.  Alternatively, you can check for currency by searching for your name at  http://www.usahockey.com/CoachingClinicCertSearch.aspx.
